BHF Golf Challenge

All those of you who joined our happy band of golfing enthusiasts at the Gary Player Course, Sun City last year, will undoubtedly vouch for the fact that a truly enjoyable outing was thoroughly enjoyed by all whether you were a low-handicapper; an enthusiastic “hacker” or merely someone seeking a relaxed spot of exercise in magnificent surroundings.

Well, hold your breath as we have come up with yet another BHF/Qualsa Golf Challenge 2008 to be staged at the magnificient Mount Edgecombe Golf Course on Sunday 13th July 2008, a repeat visit to a venue which was so much enjoyed by all in 2006.
Come and join us and help set the scene for yet another successful Annual Conference having experienced the camaraderie of old acquaintances as well as many new friendships on the golf course.

Play will commence on Sunday 13th July 2008 with first tee off times at ± 08:00 in order to ensure that participants are afforded sufficient time to prepare themselves for the official Congress Opening Ceremony which is scheduled to be held later that evening followed by the official reception. In order to ensure that our golfing participants are able to applaud our winners in a convivial atmosphere the Golf Challenge Prizegiving Function will take place in the Golf Club House (Sand Piper room) immediately upon conclusion of the Tournament. Consequently it is suggested that all participants make suitable arrangements to change at the Golf Club prior to setting off for the Conference Centre and on the way collecting their accompanying spouses/partners.

Please download and fax this entry form to Mr. Michael Schultz on fax 021-5554721 or via email to rdutoit@lahealth.co.za.

Messrs Qualsa have again come to the party in a truly magnificent manner to enable us to stage the 2008 Golf Challenge Tournament in the format – Four Ball Alliance, best two scores to count except on the short holes where one best score will count. All golfing enthusiasts and those merely in search of fun and an afternoon of recreation will be able to pit their skills against the challenges of a truly beautiful course.

We are making provision for a maximum of 144 golfers (i.e. 36 X Four Ball Alliance Teams), 18 teams to tee off on the 1st Tee; and 18 teams on the 10th Tee. Consequently it is absolutely necessary that you furnish us with your entries as soon as possible in order to ensure that no one is unnecessarily disappointed. Due to time constraints and to avoid backing up on the course we regret that no late entries will be considered except on a standby basis.

We are furthermore extremely happy to indicate that, apart from the magnificent LA-Health Floating Trophy and accompanying absolutely unique miniatures that will be presented to each member of the winning team that Messrs. Qualsa are making available a series of very attractive and valuable prizes for the top six placed teams, apart from nearest the pin on the four short holes.

We have the greatest appreciation of the fact that the Qualsa sponsorship covers inter alia the cost of the following:

  • Green Fees (18 holes)
  • Golf Car Hire (90 available!)
  • Caddy Fees – including caddy services, halfway house and tip (Number of Caddies may be limited by supply available!) (i.e. ± maximum 25)
  • Halfway House refreshments for golfers

Please Note:

  • For those participants who will not have their own golf clubs with them it is advised that the Golf Club (Pro Shop) has indicated that they have a limited number of right as well as left handed golf clubs available at R200 per set – this will naturally be for the participants own account. (Note: arrange direct with the Pro Shop @ 031-5395330 well beforehand)

Lucky Draw Prize: Messrs Chronicare Medicines
Having due regard to the interest has been shown in past years in the outstanding lucky draw prizes sponsored by Chronicare Medicines we are happy to announce that this will again take place this year when an “exciting mystery lucky draw prize” will again be on offer. Even though you are not successful in winning one of the six Qualsa prizes you have an equal chance to win a lucky draw prize. (Watch this space?)

In order to enable us to arrange the appropriate draw and schedule of tee-off times it would be appreciated if interested delegates could fax the names and golf handicaps of their four ball alliance teams or individual entries together with preferred tee-off times (relative to expected arrival times in Durban) for urgent attention to Mr. Michael Schultz on fax 021-5554721 or via email to rdutoit@lahealth.co.za as a matter of urgency, preferably using the attached entry form in PDF format. (Note: not more than two golfers with handicaps 12 and lower will be drawn together!) (maximum handicap for men 20 and ladies 26)

In conclusion we would indicate that our sponsor will again be providing each golfing participant with a souvenir golf shirt, and, in order to ensure that we have a stock of sizes in accordance with the individual requirements of our golfers available it would be appreciated if you would, at the same time mark with a cross in the appropriate square on the attached schedule of shirt sizes referred to on the entry form. (Note: if you are unsure of your shirt size please use a tape measure and apply the criteria reflected on the schedule). (NB: We will be unable to guarantee your shirt size if we receive your entry and size later than Friday 16th May 2008).

Please make sure that you do not miss this wonderful golfing opportunity and experience.
